To get to Antelope Canyon, the nearest airport is the Page Municipal Airport. From there, you can rent a car and drive to the canyon, which is about 10 minutes away. Alternatively, you can fly into larger airports such as Las Vegas, Nevada or Phoenix, Arizona, and then drive to Page (approximately 4-5 hours).
Antelope Canyon is located on Navajo land, and you must book a guided tour to visit. It is highly recommended to book your tour in advance, especially for Upper Antelope Canyon, as it is the most popular and can get crowded. The best time to visit for the famous light beams is between March and October, around midday.
The cost of visiting Antelope Canyon varies depending on the tour operator and the time of year. On average, expect to pay around $50-$80 per person for a basic tour. For photography tours, which are longer and provide more guidance, prices can range from $100-$200 per person.
The best things to do in Antelope Canyon are exploring the slot canyons, taking photographs of the stunning formations, and learning about the Navajo culture from your tour guide. If you have time, consider visiting the nearby Horseshoe Bend, a beautiful horseshoe-shaped bend in the Colorado River, or taking a boat tour on Lake Powell.
For dining options, consider eating at Big John's Texas BBQ for delicious barbecue and a lively atmosphere, or the Ranch House Grille for hearty American fare. For a more upscale dining experience, try the Rainbow Room at the Lake Powell Resort, which offers stunning views of Lake Powell and delicious seafood options.
For accommodations, consider staying at the Lake Powell Resort for beautiful lake views and easy access to Antelope Canyon. Alternatively, the Best Western Plus at Lake Powell offers comfortable rooms at a more affordable price. For a unique lodging experience, consider staying in a Navajo-owned bed and breakfast, such as the Shash Diné Eco-Retreat, which offers a more immersive cultural experience.
Off the beaten path: For an unusual travel experience in the area, consider visiting the lesser-known Waterholes Canyon. This slot canyon, located just a few miles south of Page, is accessible by obtaining a permit from the Navajo Nation Parks and Recreation Department. The canyon offers a more secluded and serene experience compared to the crowded Antelope Canyon. Be prepared for a more challenging hike, as there are ladders and ropes to navigate, but the reward is a tranquil and beautiful canyon just waiting to be explored.

️🏜️ Canyon spotsAntelope Canyon (Tsé bighánílíní dó Hazdistazí in Navajo meaning "the place where water flows through the rocks") is one of the best known and most photographed gorges in the southwestern United States.
This canyon of 3 m to 4 m wide and reaching 30 m deep is located a few miles east of Page, in the Navajo reservation. Five miles long, it is hardly visible from the surface of the plateau (altitude 1,300 m) and only two access points are open to tourists, only on guided tours. The guides all charge, in theory, similar prices. Some of them are located directly in the parking lot of the site. Note that the boat tours on Lake Powell allow you to approach the canyon by water. But it is a completely different vision of the site.
It was a young Navajo Indian girl in 1931, searching for one of her lost sheep, who found this gorge. Antelope Canyon can only be visited on guided tours, partly because unexpected rains can quickly flood it.
